Download CCKP Information
The Cancer Complexity Knowledge Portal (CCKP) includes download functionality to provide access to datasets, publications, and other resources for offline use. This section uses Publications and Datasets as examples.
Types Of Information
This guide covers two related but distinct processes:
Downloading information that’s directly available on the CCKP and
Accessing the resources themselves, which are hosted on external platforms.
There are three types of information available for download:
Internal Page-Level Information
External Links
External Tool Download Links
First, we describe each type of information and then demonstrate how to access each type.
Internal Page-Level Information
Internal Page-level information is useful to find and export information about all items in your search. It downloads all details from the current page in CSV or TSV format.
External Links
External links navigate to information, datasets, or repositories hosted and available for download on other platforms. The CCKP provides comprehensive information about these resources, but the actual data files are maintained by their original repositories so that you always have access to the most current versions.
Tool Download Links
Tool download links lead to external repositories, like GitHub. This approach embraces open scientific principles and allows you to easily access the most up-to-date versions of tools with recent bug fixes and features.
Accessing the Information
Page-Level Information Example: Publications
Use page level information to find details about all publications related to a specific search. You can refine your search using charts or filters and then export the information as a metadata file for local review and analysis.
Follow these steps to download page-level information:
Step 1: Click the download icon(1) in the top-right corner of the page.

Step 2: Select "Export Table" from the dropdown menu.
Refer to the Programmatically Downloading Data document for instructions on downloading data through the command line, Python, or R.
Step 3:
The “Download Query Results” window displays the File Type and the overall structure of the file.
Click Next to proceed.
Step 4: Click Download to save the file to your device.
Step 5: View the information in your preferred spreadsheet software.
External Links
Some datasets and educational resources listed on the CCKP are hosted on external platforms. Upon identifying a resource of interest, the CCKP will help you navigate to direct sources via external links. The CCKP functions as a centralized research resource aggregator, bringing datasets and resources together from multiple external repositories into one searchable location. This helps to save you time by eliminating the need to search across multiple platforms.
External Links Example: Datasets
You may find that some datasets are hosted on specialized external platforms with their own unique features and functionality. Rather than maintaining duplicate copies, the CCKP provides annotated metadata and search capabilities across all resources while directly connecting you to these external sources.
Unlike other Explore modules, Datasets does not offer the option to download Page-Level Information. As discussed, they link to external sources.
Your research might require accessing specialized, hard-to-find datasets. Or you might be interested in discovering tools to help make your work more effective. Follow these steps to download data and tools from external sources:
Step 1: Refine your information search using charts or filters, then click on the title or information card of the dataset you want to download.

Step 2: Click on the “EXTERNAL LINK”(1). You will be redirected to the hosting platform’s website.
Step 3: Follow the download instructions(2) provided on the external site to access the data.

Tool Download Links
Computational tools listed on the CCKP are typically hosted in external, software-focused repositories, like GitHub. Upon identifying a tool of interest, the CCKP will help you navigate to direct sources a download links.
Step 1: Click on the Download Link.

Step 2: Explore the tool.
